A Chance to Jump in the Driver’s Seat: 4/28

Although we much would have preferred the Hershey Bears taking both games in Portland to start the series, winning one put the Chocolate and White in control. Following a tough 6-4 setback to kickoff the series, Hershey responded 24 hours later.

Tonight it’s Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Semi-Finals between the Hershey Bears and Portland Pirates. With a split on the road, Games 3, 4 and if necessary 5 will be on GIANT Center ice. A win tonight for the Chocolate and White would put them in the driver’s seat with a chance to close out the series on Saturday.

For tonight’s game, the opening 20 minutes will be key for the Bears’ success. A slow start haunted Hershey in Game 1 with glaring turnovers in the defensive zone. In this game, I would look towards veteran leaders to also step up and make an impact. Chris Bourque has thrived in the postseason role, especially when playing in GIANT Center, in recent years.

Justin Peters will get the nod after a sensational Game 2 effort.

Be sure to be in your seat for the Opening Face Off Pregame Show at 5:50, as well as for a 7 PM puck drop.

Get ready, playoff hockey is back in the “Sweetest Place on Earth.”
