Greetings from the Memorial Auditorium press row. The Bears will take their pre-game skate momentarily.
Based on the morning skate today, Justin Peters will get the start in goal. Peters made 21 saves on 24 shots in a good effort last Saturday, but the Bears were unable to get him the win after dominating the third period against the Portland Pirates. They will give it another go today.
If the practices are any indication, Hershey should put up a great game tonight against a hard-skating, fast, emotional Utica Comets squad. This building, even one hour ago, was buzzing. Tailgating was ongoing all around the Aud parking lots, the music is pumping and now this place is really filling up quickly. I am psyched to see the game-night atmosphere that has been boasted coming from the Aud.
Christian Djoos and Caleb Herbert are the scratches, and the one interesting part of tonight’s lineup is the fourth-line center. Nathan Walker is going to give it a whirl. According to head coach Troy Mann, he expressed eager interest in trying the spot out. Mann took it as a great positive that Walker is willing to provide versatility. Not to mention, he can mix it up after the whistle with the best of them. He will center Liam O’Brien and Garrett Mitchell.
Other than that, the practices this week featured much more physicality, if you happened to catch any of them. I wouldn’t have expected anything less, since that is what the coaches were most frustrated about following Sunday’s loss.
Air time in 15 minutes on the Bears Radio Network. In the meantime, enjoy a few morning skate pics.
