Post-Game: BEARS 3, Falcons 2 (SO)

We’ve been waiting a long time to see Stanislav Galiev’s highly-touted quick release end up in the opponent’s net.

We waited over 65 minutes tonight to finally see it for real.

Galiev scored on a blistering snap shot in the top of the seventh round to help the HERSHEY BEARS skate past the Eastern Conference-leading Springfield Falcons by a 3-2 score on Friday night at Springfield’s MassMutual Center.

In crunching some numbers, the BEARS have been outshot in all but one of their eight games to date this season.  The club won four of the seven, and in all four wins, the team scored three goals (tonight’s in a shootout).

Pretty interesting.  It sure shows the commitment to defense, as well as getting in the shooting and passing lanes well tonight against a very good, quick Falcons lineup.  It also didn’t hurt that Braden Holtby was on his game once again, stopping 31 of 33 Springfield shots in earning his second straight victory.

Should be a fun atmosphere in Bridgeport tomorrow, as the team is giving away free tickets all week to help fans who were affected by Hurricane Sandy take their minds off of things with what should be another great hockey game.

Talk to you tomorrow!
