After months and months of planning…marketing meetings…merchandise meetings…food and beverage meetings…security run-throughs…logistics planning…site surveys…and game event practices, the night is finally here!! The Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic comes to life at HERSHEYPARK Stadium in just under four hours from the time I’m writing this.
If the attendance at yesterday’s Alumni Game was any indication of how things will go today, we are in for an awesome treat. An estimated 12,000 came out on a beautiful day to watch the Alumni, who unfortunately fell to defeat by a 9-5 score. But it didn’t stop fans of both sides from having a blast.
Getting to the actual game today, a huge two points are up for grabs for the BEARS. The club dropped the last meeting to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1-0 a week ago Friday. Brad Thiessen stopped all 23 shots and Dany Sabourin made 20 saves in a great game. Sabourin is scheduled to start the Outdoor Classic, and is now 3-1-0 against the Penguins. On the opponent’s side, Jeff Zatkoff is slated to start against the BEARS. The old saying is “keep battling and good things will happen.” Zatkoff coud use to take that to heart… as he is 1-5-0 against HERSHEY in the season series… but has great numbers against everyone else.
