Post-Game: Whale 3, BEARS 1

Coverage at the net front was the problem early in the game tonight for the Chocolate and White, as Dany Sabourin was left alone to defend Brandon Segal and Tommy Grant before the game was 6:30 old.  Both forwards scored from in close to give the Connecticut Whale a 2-0 lead that was held until late in the third period.

Dany Sabourin, making his first start since last Saturday’s 8-7 setback to Rochester, stepped up and had a solid performance the rest of the way, keeping the Whale from going ahead any further.

Dmitry Orlov scored a power-play goal for his first of the season, in his patented way – letting fly with a screaming slap shot from the point into traffic.
